As the summer transfer window fast approaches, attentions are starting to turn towards certain players who Chelsea could be targeting.
Left back is an area on the pitch where Chelsea could see themselves needing to invest in. Current left backs Emerson Palmieri and Marcos Alonso both have uncertain futures at the club after stuttering seasons.
If both do end up leaving, one solution could be promoting 18-year old talent Ian Maatsen from the academy to fill one slot.
But Chelsea have two main targets they are chasing for that area. According to Goal’s Chelsea correspondent Nizaar Kinsella, Frank Lampard is considering Ben Chilwell from Leicester City, and Alex Telles from Porto as a cheaper option.
Telles is yet to sign a new deal at Porto and only has a year remaining on his current one, meaning he should be available at a cheaper price.
Chelsea have already been in negotiations with his club to agree a deal, according to multiple reports recently. He does look like the most likely option.
Let's talk left-backs… (inspired a lot by questions on Twitter about Alex Telles): https://t.co/BnNx7X7LPS#CFC
