Kepa: Barely had anything to do all game as he was well protected by the defence. One good save to deny Jonjo Shelvey from scoring a free-kick in the second half and also kept out a header from Willock. His distribution was good and he looked confident. 7/10

Azpilicueta: Will be pleased with yet another clean sheet. He did his job defensively and also sprinted forward at times to support Hudson-Odoi on the right side of attack. 7/10

Christensen: Cool, calm and collected in defence. Played in the centre of the back three and has made us to easily forget about the experienced Thiago Silva. 7/10

Rudiger: Comfortable performance in defence and made sure Gayle had no space to cause any danger. 7/10

Jorginho: His combination with Kovacic seemed sleek on the eye especially in the first-half, and he dictated the tempo of the game without fuss. 7.5/10

Kovacic: Superb performance beside Jorginho. Made his customary runs look easy and played some good balls from deep as well, with a fine pass to Tammy Abraham. Good game. 8/10

Hudson-Odoi: Looked threatening all through the game, but unfortunately no one could take advantage of his balls into the box. 7/10

Alonso: Gave Emil Krafth headache on the left flank and had a good game. Not much to do defensively as he kept going forward with joy. 7/10

Mount: Seemed to work hard for most of the game and missed a good chance to score. Had a quiet night and was subbed off with 20 minutes left. 6/10

Timo Werner: Man of the match performance from the German as he helped create Giroud’s goal and also scored his. Was lively all game and got into many good scoring positions. 8/10

Tammy Abraham: Was taken off early in the first half due to injury.

Subs: Giroud: Came on for Abraham and scored 11 minutes later to put his side in front. Good game. 7/10

Kante: Replaced Mount in the second-half with 20 minutes left, as Tuchel tried to seal the victory. 6/10

Reece James: Replaced Hudson-Odoi late in the game.
