It was another night to forget for Paul Pogba as Manchester United drew 0-0 with Valencia in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.
Last tasting victory against Young Boys in Europe’s elite competition last month, the Red Devils are on a dreadful run of results at present following a draw with Wolves and defeats against Derby County and West Ham.
With a number of players, including ex-Arsenal man Alexis Sanchez, coming in for criticism, it is the French midfielder who is taking the brunt of the blame at present.
Involved in a training ground confrontation with Jose Mourinho last week following the Carabao Cup defeat against Derby, Pogba could well be heading for the exit door in 2019.
Linked with a big-money move to Barcelona ahead of the August transfer deadline, the Spanish giants continue to be linked with a January move for the World Cup winner.
Juventus have also been tipped to re-sign the 25-year-old despite splashing out for Cristiano Ronaldo, while a shock move across Manchester to the Etihad Stadium has also been mentioned.
Pogba’s future is big talk back in his home country at present and L’Equipe (via Sport Witness ) have been looking at potential destinations for the midfielder.
The French publication have mentioned Chelsea as an option for the midfielder come next year.
They claim that teaming Pogba up with international teammate N’Golo Kante would be tempting, while also suggesting that the Blues would love to sign a big-name player from a rival.
However, they suggest that the club’s lack of Champions League football at present could prove to be a stumbling block, as well as the fact that Pogba may not suit Maurizio Sarri’s tactics.
With Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic both arriving in west London in the summer, the Blues do have a number of options in the middle of the park at present.
Signed from Juventus for £89million back in August 2016, Pogba’s transfer fee will also prove to be a problem for the Blues as United will want to make a profit on the Frenchman.
