‘He’s the chosen one’ – Barcelona boss says of Chelsea player ahead of summer transfer
According to latest reports in Spain, Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez has identified a key Chelsea player as the ‘chosen one’ for the Spanish side ahead of the summer transfer window.
However, according to Spanish media outlet Sport, Barcelona have identified Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta as the ‘chosen one’ to strengthen Barcelona at right-back next season.
Azpilicueta will be out of contract at Chelsea at the end of the season and Barcelona are hoping to sign the Spanish international as a free agent when his Chelsea contract expires.
Meanwhile, The Athletic has claimed Azpilicueta wants to finish his career at Stamford Bridge despite interest from Spanish side Barcelona.
Since joining Chelsea in 2012, the Spaniard has made 455 appearances, helping the Blues win two Premier League titles and the Champions League last season.
Azpilicueta joined Chelsea from French club Marseille in the summer of 2012 for just £7million and has to be one of Chelsea’s best transfers in terms of value for money.
