Hakim Ziyech and Reece James likes him as Chelsea interview 52-year-old manager

Luis Enrique is reportedly a big fan of Chelsea attacker Hakim Ziyech, but he’s now an outside candidate to get the manager’s job at Stamford Bridge.

However, Luis Enrique, 52, is one of the out-of-work managers strongly linked to the Blues in recent weeks.

However, speculation this week suggests the former Barcelona coach may not end up in West London next season.

The Guardian claims that Chelsea now have doubts over appointing Enrique, which leaves 35-year-old Julian Nagelsmann in a strong position to win the managerial race. Incidentally, journalist Fabrizio Romano said on YouTube that Chelsea are in talks with Mauricio Pochettino as well.

Journalist Simon Phillips now reports on his Substack that Enrique is an “outside bet” to take charge at Chelsea.

It is understood that there has been positive meetings between parties, but there were some disagreements over members of the current squad.

In particular, Phillips mentions that the Spanish manager really likes Hakim Ziyech, but Chelsea are planning a major clearout this summer to trim the group.

Phillips explained to GiveMeSport last month that Ziyech is one of the players Chelsea are definitely set to sell at the end of the season. This comes after his move to Paris Saint-Germain failed in the closing stages of the January transfer window.

There’s such an array of talent in this huge Chelsea squad, which is surely playing a massive factor during the interview process for the next permanent manager.

Even with a new manager coming in, Ziyech’s days at Chelsea should be numbered.

The 30-year-old winger has never really lived up to expectation during his time in England, scoring 14 goals in 103 Chelsea appearances.

We might see the best of the Moroccan attacker if he moves abroad and to a less physical league than the Premier League.
