£120k-a-week Chelsea star wants to talk to Pochettino ahead of next season
According to reports, Callum Hudson-Odoi still believes he can turn his Chelsea career around.
Callum Hudson-Odoi, who’s now 22, was always tipped as one of the best youngsters to come from the Blues academy at Cobham.
He’s played 126 first-team games in Chelsea colours, scoring 16 goals, but he’s still working to fulfill his true potential.
The English winger was sent out on a season-long loan to Bayer Leverkusen this year, but he’s scored just once in 21 appearances for the German club.
According to 90min, Hudson-Odoi has faith that he can return to Stamford Bridge at the end of his loan and revive his Chelsea career.
It is explained that the 22-year-old wants talks with the next Blues manager, which is likely to be Mauricio Pochettino, before deciding his future.
The report adds that Chelsea will push to sell Hudson-Odoi on a permanent basis if they don’t plan to keep him next season.
Interestingly, AC Milan are named as potential suitors that admire the Chelsea loanee.
If Pochettino does take the Chelsea job, we feel Hudson-Odoi may have an outside chance.
Sky Sports reports that 51-year-old manager Pochettino is edging closer to becoming the next Chelsea boss and it could be finalised in the next week.
He traditionally likes to use wingers in a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 system. Therefore, the likes of Hudson-Odoi, Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke should be buzzing with his potential arrival as manager.
Some may be doubtful over whether Hudson-Odoi is good enough and at the level to impact our squad next season, but perhaps a fresh manager that believes in him could be the change he needs.
It would be quite the U-turn if the £120,000-a-week (Spotrac) academy graduate can force his way back into the Blues plans.
In fairness, the way Chelsea’s forward line has performed as a collective this season we wouldn’t rule anything out.
