Pochettino set to reshape squad as seven players eye Stamford Bridge exit
According to the Express, Mauricio Pochettino’s imminent arrival as Chelsea’s new head coach is expected to trigger the departure of seven players from Stamford Bridge during the upcoming summer transfer window.
The club, known for its bloated squad, aims to generate funds by offloading players who do not align with Pochettino’s vision.
The potential sales are projected to raise an estimated £136 million, according to Transfermarkt valuations. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, valued at £6 million, is likely to be the first player to leave after spending just one season with Chelsea. This move signifies his surplus status within the team.
According to reports, Barcelona is believed to be interested in signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who never wanted to leave the Catalan club initially.
Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic is also set to leave as the Blues failed to reach a new contract agreement with him, and several top clubs including Manchester United, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich are monitoring his situation.
Kovacic’s market value is estimated at £34.7 million. Additionally, Christian Pulisic could potentially bring in £27.7 million for Chelsea this summer, despite a challenging season in which he scored only once in 21 Premier League appearances.
Hakim Ziyech, who came close to joining Paris Saint-Germain on loan in January, is expected to leave Chelsea and could generate £15.6 million in the transfer.
Goalkeeper Edouard Mendy is rumored to be on his way out, with Tottenham showing interest. Both Mendy and Ziyech are valued at £15.6 million each. Mendy aims to revive his career after a frustrating season marred by injuries.
