‘Scored 28 goals this season, man knows how to score’: Rafa Benitez hails Chelsea target

Rafael Benitez has praised reported Chelsea target Lautaro Martinez ahead of the UEFA Champions League final on Saturday evening.

Chelsea have been linked with Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez, who will feature against Manchester City in the final of the UEFA Champions League this evening.

According to 90min, Chelsea have discussed the possibility of signing Martinez with his club Inter.

The Times have claimed that new Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is a big fan of the Argentina international striker and wants him at Stamford Bridge for next season and beyond.

Former Chelsea interim manager Benitez is a fan of Martinez as well.

Benitez wrote in The Times ahead of the UEFA Champions League final: “City will know Edin Dzeko well from his time at the club and Lautaro Martinez, who usually plays alongside him, has pace and knows how to score. He has 28 goals this season.”

In our view, Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez would be a brilliant signing for Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

The Argentine is one of the best strikers around and, given that he is only 25, his best years are ahead of him.

We believe that if Chelsea are able to bring Martinez to Stamford Bridge, then they would do a great piece of transfer business, especially as the Blues will not play in the UEFA Champions League next season.

There is also the fascinating prospect of Romelu Lukaku and Martinez playing with each other in the Chelsea attack next season.

Lukaku is on loan at Inter from Chelsea at the moment and has a very good partnership with Martinez on the pitch.

Martinez scored 21 goals and gave six assists in Serie A this season.

The Inter no. 10 has scored three goals and given three assists in the UEFA Champions League this campaign.
