Chelsea working on deal to complete £50m signing Pochettino has aksed for

CHELSEA have reportedly identified and began negotiations to sign Southampton’s Romeo Lavia in the summer.

With the club unable to sign the amount of players that the club needed over the course of the transfer window – it was left until deadline day before ex-boss Thomas Tuchel get a couple more signings

It was no secret that the club wanted a holding midfielder that would help fill the void of Ngolo Kante – who has picked up numerous injuries over the last few seasons and as missed some big matches

Reports emerged on deadline day that Chelsea made a stunning offer to try and sign Lavia from Southampton – despite the fact the holding midfielder only signed with the Saints a few months before hand

The Saints ultimately rejected the advances of Chelsea and decided that they would not let the midfielder leave – despite the reports that Chelsea had offered close to £50 million for the player

But now Football.London reports that Chelsea have opened talks with Southampton over a summer move for former Man City academy product.

He is reportedly a player that incoming boss Mauricio Pochettino is very keen to add to his squad this summer
