Anthony Taylor reveals reasons for his errors against Chelsea in 4-4 draw against Manchester City as Chelsea fans reacted “Disgusting”
Cole Palmer secured a dramatic draw for Chelsea against his former team, Manchester City, with a last-minute penalty in a thrilling Premier League encounter. The controversy arose when referee Anthony Taylor awarded a penalty to City, converted by Erling Haaland. Chelsea swiftly responded with Thiago Silva’s header from a corner and then took the lead as Raheem Sterling tapped in Reece James’ cross.
However, Chelsea fans have vented their frustration online after Anthony Taylor awarded a penalty to Manchester City in the first-half of their clash against the Premier League champions.
Spanish defender Marc Cucurella was judged to have fouled Erling Haaland at the back post and VAR did not overrule Taylor’s initial decision. Haaland then stepped up and sent Robert Sanchez the wrong way to give Man City the lead versus Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
While Haaland was certainly impeded by Cucurella, the decision was not clear-cut given the Norwegian had pulled the Chelsea man back in order to get in front of him.
Thiago Silva equalised shortly after Haaland’s goal, but Blues fans were quick to express their anger at referee Taylor, who has previously been criticised for decisions made in Chelsea games.
