Chelsea ready to offer £86m to sign player Carlo Ancelotti thinks is ‘special’
Reports from Spain have claimed that Chelsea are now prepared to enter the market to sign one player for a fee of around £86m.
According to El Nacional Catalonia, the Blues are keen to go back in for Real Madrid winger Rodrygo, after making an effort to sign him last summer.
Chelsea have been linked with the addition of an attacker this month in an effort to bolster their prospects going forwards this season.
However, the majority of the players linked with that move have actually been centre forwards. Victor Osimhen continues to head up that list.
Despite that, they are perhaps aware deep down that his new contract at Napoli means that deal is unlikely to be possible until the end of the season.
This perhaps explains why reports have emerged again that they are keen to sign Rodrygo again, after he has hit a hotspot in form.
The report claims that they are willing to offer £86m, however the La Liga side will be unwilling to change their mind on the subject matter.
He has come in for plenty of praise in the early stages of his career already. Manager Carlo Ancelotti has already described him as ‘special’.
Chelsea will feel that they are particularly strong in the wide areas not just for now, but also for the future with the players that they already have.
This season has seen Noni Madueke and Mykhailo Mudryk begin to contribute more for the side, as well as Raheem Sterling starting the majority of games.
If the Blues want to look elsewhere from a striker in the market, they should instead look to fine tune their defence, perhaps adding a left-back to their ranks after authorizing a loan deal away for Ian Maatsen to Borussia Dortmund which will be sealed in the coming days.
