‘I was so shocked’: Angelo Gabriel admits he’s been shocked by 23-year-old Chelsea teammate this season

Chelsea loanee Angelo Gabriel has explained that he’s been shocked by the friendship he’s developed with Mykhailo Mudryk this season.

Angelo Gabriel, 19, is a highly-rated youngster who spent pre-season as part of the Blues squad. He was eventually sent on a season-long loan to French club Strasbourg, though.

Interestingly, the Chelsea-owned youngster has shared in an interview this week that he’s still in close contact with a Blues teammate.

Apparently, Angelo speaks on a frequent basis with Chelsea’s 23-year-old star Mykhailo Mudryk.

Angelo is getting some rave reviews out in France this season and hopefully pushing closer to a spot in Chelsea’s first team during the 2024/24 campaign.

He’s now shared that he’s in constant communication back to Stamford Bridge via Blues winger Mudryk.

Speaking via Premier League Brasil, Angelo said: “Someone I really like today is a brother and I miss him, talking and training, Mudryk. I already knew he was an ace. I didn’t expect to make a very quick friendship with him. But when he started talking to me, I remembered that he played for Shakhtar and there were a lot of Brazilians there. He’s a kid with a giant heart. He’s quiet, in his opinion, he doesn’t really like the reviews. You need to arrive, break the ice, for him to feel at ease (…) He is a bit of a Ukrainian Brazilian. He’s a friend of mine, I miss him. We always talk on Instagram.”

It’s exciting to think about the possibility of Angelo and Mudryk starting together in the same Chelsea XI further down the line.

Brazilian teenager Angelo, who’s arguably the pick of Chelsea’s loanees this season, is a very skilful right-winger that loves to cut infield on his left foot.

As for Mudryk, he’s usually the Blues left-winger with incredible pace and energy.

We know the duo have a long way to develop if they want to reach the incredibly high bar set by the world’s elite wingers in recent years, but there’s certainly a lot of potential in both.
