“He’s 100% a starter in this team before”, “We hope to see this baller tonight” – Chelsea fans wants Mauricio Pochettino to start £100,000-per-week Chelsea star against Liverpool

Chelsea travel to rivals Liverpool this evening for an important fixture at Anfield.

Interestingly, there’s plenty of Blues fans on social media that are all demanding Carney Chukwuemeka is recalled to the starting line-up for this midweek game.

Liverpool host Chelsea on Wednesday night in a Premier League match, which takes place just a few weeks before the clubs meet again in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium.

The Reds will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the league table with a win later on. Meanwhile, the Blues know they’ll climb up to seventh with three points on the road.

Chelsea fans asking for Carney Chukwuemeka

A selection of the Chelsea fanbase are desperate to see Chukwuemka promoted to the starting XI this evening.

The 20-year-old’s not actually started a game for the Blues since August, missing several months with a knee injury.

He’s made a few very late cameo appearances off the bench this month as he works his way back to fitness, but it would be a big ask to throw him into the side versus league leaders Liverpool.

Journalist Matt Law told the ‘London Is Blue’ podcast recently that Chukwuemeka has been taught a different way to run after his injury. Therefore, we won’t be surprised if it takes the £20 million star (BBC) a while to get back to full speed.

Here are some fans on X discussing Chukwuemeka before the Liverpool fixture:

One fan said: “He was 100% a starter in this team before his injury. If he’s fit again, run it back.”

Another claimed: “Carney deserves to start… If he’s going to choose Mudryk, Carney can perform better in that position.”

A third posted: “He should be playing over Gallagher.”

Another wrote: “I hope to see this baller given time on the pitch to showcase his amazing skills.”

A fifth supporter said: “Front 4: Sterling, Carney, Palmer and Broja.”

Another posted: “Carney in today’s training. He needs to start against Liverpool.”
