€110m man “has already agreed” summer move – but left to Chelsea decide about his move

Victor Osimhen is leaving Napoli this summer, that much is clear.

A year after he was the hottest striker in world football, some gloss has come off after a much less impressive campaign for a struggling post-title Napoli side, but he’s still one of the most desired strikers on the market.

There should be a major battle to sign him with clubs from all over the place, but according to some, the deal is actually already done. Italian transfer expert Gaetano Fedele spoke on the radio with great confidence on the matter in quotes picked up by Napoli site Area Napoli, saying he was sure that Osimhen was on his way to the Premier League:

“There is a clause in the renewal contract signed by Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian has already agreed with another club and will leave in the summer. I am convinced that the Nigerian goes to England. Trust me, he knows where to go.”

This certainly will interest Chelsea fans, but there are plenty of other teams he could be going to. Arsenal would love a striker, for one, and they are in a far stronger financial situation to make this deal happen than we are.

In fact, it’s hard to imagine that Chelsea could possibly be the team with a pre-existing deal to sign Osimhen, simply because of the FFP tangle we’re in. We need to make major sales before we buy anyone, let alone a striker who is still valued at €110m by TransferMarkt, despite a down season.

By the sounds of things we need to sell €100m of players just to get back to zero. Buying Osimhen would then require another €100m of sales – and we’re not sure we’ve got those sorts of valuable assets left.
