“I want him badly” – Pep Guardiola desperate to sign 21-year-old Chelsea star Blues wants to sell
Chelsea will want to offload some players before adding more to support Mauricio Pochettino’s efforts.
Chelsea247 has been exclusively informed that Ian Maatsen, a promising young player for Chelsea, is on Manchester City’s list of possible summer additions. The 21-year-old is presently on loan at Dortmund in Germany, where he has contributed to the team’s first Champions League final appearance since the 1990s.
In an interview with the Dutch publication Voetbal International, Pep Guardiola’s team said that they had spotted the small but potent Maatsen, who is attracting interest from other teams.
He said: “We have more options besides Chelsea and Dortmund, but Dortmund has proven to be a good restart. And look which guys come from there… [Jude] Bellingham, [Erling] Haaland.”
The left-back has a Champions League final to play at Wembley but according to a report by TBR Football, and cited by TEAMtalk, City have ‘scouted’ the Chelsea left-back severally already including sending people out to keep an eye on in during the Champions League semi-final against PSG.
Chelsea looking to end the season on a high
Chelsea have finally come into form and still have a chance of finishing sixth, It would ensure they get Europa League football. That would be a great achievement given the number of injuries they have suffered this season and the amount of number of young players they have signed in the last two transfer windows.
There are also strong reports that the likes of Maatsen, Conor Gallagher, Trevoh Chalobah and Omari Hutchinson could all be sold to raise funds and make pure profit if they receive the right offer.
Hutchinson has been asked to return to Cobham for pre-season before a decision is made on his long-term future with Ipswich Town keen to sign him on a permanent deal.
