“I want to play under Enzo Maresca” “Please don’t sell me” – £50m Chelsea player hungry to play for Enzo Maresca ahead of next season
According to reports, one player Chelsea is seeking to let go of this summer is preparing to play for the new manager the following year.
Following the Argentine’s one-season tenure as manager at Stamford Bridge, it was revealed that Enzo Maresca had been chosen to succeed Mauricio Pochettino.
The decision was reached rather quickly, and the lengthy contract they gave the Italian indicates that they have great confidence in him to see the project through to completion.
When Manchester City visits Stamford Bridge for the inaugural game of the season, a lot of speculation has already started on the composition of the squad.
One player who has been strongly reported to be out of favour with those up top is Raheem Sterling, who is currently the highest earning player in the first team squad.
Raheem Sterling planning to play for Maresca
According to The Athletic, the Blues have accepted the fact that his wages make it very difficult to move him on, and that they will struggle to find a club to take him off their hands.
It also went on to state that the player, who joined for £50m just less than two years ago, was actually already preparing for pre-season under the new manager.
Chelsea want to sign Michael Olise
It remains to be seen if the Blues complete a deal to sign another winger this summer, with Michael Olise remaining firmly at the top of their list of targets.
The Frenchman normally features on a different side of the attack to Sterling, however the positions are taken up by a number of top young players who there is a lot of faith in.
With him reportedly looking to stay at the height of European football, it may well be another campaign at Stamford Bridge for the former City man.
