£42m ‘SPECIAL TALENT’ star wants to complete Chelsea move after talks with Enzo Maresca – As Blues board ‘GIVES GREEN LIGHT’
Jhon Duran, the star of Aston Villa, is rumored to have given Chelsea the go-ahead to finalize a deal because he wants to move to Stamford Bridge during the summer transfer window.
The 20-year-old center forward is thought to be the Blues’ top option for a striker, despite his meager eight goals in 37 appearances across all competitions last season.
Although Duran is believed to be content at Villa Park, if Chelsea pursues their interest, he would be willing to relocate there. The striker is believed to think he would mesh well with Maresca and fit the team’s goals.
Now Fabrizio Romano believes that Chelsea could offer him going forward. The Italian stated on his Playback channel: “Chelsea have to reach an agreement with the player and with the club. On the Jhon Duran case, they already have the green light of John Duran, but not yet the green light of Aston Villa.
“In that case, it has to be a swap deal so it is a complicated story, guys – it is not easy.”
“Villa are not only asking for £40m for Duran, but they are also asking for too much of the fee up front.”
Unai Emery’s recent comments suggest that the Blues are right to target the striker despite him having a reported £42m price tag. Speaking after Duran bagged a brace against Liverpool, the former Arsenal manager said: “He is very young – 20 years old.
“His potential, it is impossible to predict how far he is going to get. I believe in him.
“It is different football in Colombia. Tactically, the football is very different in the Premier League.
“We are working with him a lot. I know he is going to score, get chances and use his power.
“His potential is clear, but we need to manage him as a young person. But today I am very happy with how he helped us because this is the consequence – we drew.”a
