“They want to work with him” – Chelsea confident £32m signing will play well under Enzo Maresca – Fabrizio Romano confirms

Chelsea is confident that one of its players would excel in Enzo Maresca’s squad the next year.

Mauricio Pochettino was replaced as Chelsea manager by Enzo Maresca last month, and Maresca has an extremely talented team at his disposal.

The Blues have already expanded to their formidable roster this summer with the addition of players like Omari Kellyman and Tosin Adarabioyo.

But Chelsea is placing a lot of faith on one man who was previously a member of the team in front of the upcoming campaign.

Although he has been linked to leaving Stamford Bridge, it appears likely that he will remain there.

Chelsea is hopeful about signing throughout the summer transfer window.

Chelsea’s previous summer transfer window was quite a busy one.

To mention a few players, they brought in Moises Caicedo, Nicolas Jackson, and Axel Disasi.

Jackson has since been connected to a move to Newcastle United, but according to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea believes the 23-year-old is still capable of performing well under Maresca in the upcoming campaign.

Discussing Jackson on Substack, Romano said: “What I’m hearing is that Jackson is considered a really important player for Chelsea. They trust him and believe he’s going to perform very well under Enzo Maresca next season, and that his value is going to go up.

“Chelsea absolutely trust Jackson and think he’s going to be a key player next season, and also on the player side, Jackson is very happy at Chelsea, so everything is quiet on this one.”

Should Chelsea have so much confidence in Nicolas Jackson?
Jackson did not have the perfect season in England following his £32m move from Villarreal.

He missed a lot of chances in the Premier League, finishing the 2023/24 campaign with an xG difference of -4.66, according to WhoScored.

However, the fact that his xG was 18.66 and he still managed to score 14 goals gives Chelsea reason to have confidence in Jackson.

The Senegal international, alone, is probably not going to fire the Blues back into the Champions League, but he can certainly make a big contribution to their season.
