“Not a match winner player” “He can’t win you trophies” – Glen Johnson warns Enzo Maresca against signing 21-year-old attacker
Glen Johnson, a former Chelsea defender, has advised the Blues against acquiring Athletic Bilbao’s 21-year-old attacker Nico Williams this summer.
Williams’ summertime departure from Athletic Bilbao has been speculated about.
Johnson feels that the Spain international lacks Premier League experience, though.
He claims that in order to strengthen their assault for the upcoming campaign, Chelsea needs an accomplished attacker with Premier League experience.
“From what I have seen, he [Williams] is probably better than a few they have already got. As I have said before, Chelsea have so many youngsters and I believe they need more experience in the team,” Johnson told BetFred.
“They need match winners and experienced players rather than an entire squad of young gems.”
He added, “I don’t believe they need another young winger right now. Chelsea need players that have been around the Premier League for many years, that have won trophies, and know how to win.”
