6AM: Chelsea signs 3 in 1 player as Enzo Maresca wants to bring another £100M powerhouse defender to Chelsea

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has verified that Chelsea has added a new summer addition.

Renato Veiga, a 20-year-old Portuguese player with versatility, was signed by Chelsea from FC Basel in Switzerland.

“Exclusive: Chelsea agrees deal to sign Portuguese talent Renato Veiga from FC Basel!” tweeted Fabrizio Romano.

“2003 born left footed versatile defender/midfielder set to leave Basel training camp to join Chelsea. Package will be worth €14m, personal terms agreed. Here we go.”

He added: “There will be NO sell-on clause or add-ons. Veiga will undergo medical and sign in the next hours, deal done. Key detail: Chelsea see him playing as left back, centre back and midfielder.”

Veiga has made 36 senior appearances so far in his career, 13 for Augsburg in the Bundesliga 2022/23 season and a further 23 for Basel last term. He scored two goals and made an assist in the Swiss league last season.

Enzo Maresca wants to bring another £100M powerhouse defender to Chelsea

Chelsea are very interested in a potential Summer swoop for Sporting CP defender Ousmane Diomande, sources have claimed.

There is still a lot of speculation surrounding the players that Enzo Maresca will look to sign during the summer window, especially now that Thiago Silva has left the club and decided to head back to Brazilian football.

That has led to some rumours in the media which have claimed that CHELSEA tried to get a transfer deal done for Diomande in the last few days of the last January window, but a €35million (£30m) bid rejected.

Diomande, who has an 100m release clause, quickly became a regular in the Sporting defence following his arrival at the start of the year, making his European debut against the Gunners in the Europa League.

WHAT IS THE LATEST –

The Portuguese giants are said want the centre-back’s full release clause if they are to even contemplate selling the Ivorian, 20, but the MSN website believe the Blues are still taking a look at Diomande.
