“I see him leaving Chelsea” – Michael Owen reveals who will sign Cole Palmer from Chelsea

Cole Palmer may choose to leave Chelsea at some point, according to Michael Owen.

Palmer became Chelsea’s Player of the Season after leaving Manchester City to join the club in the summer.

Although Cole Palmer’s reputation has increased since joining Chelsea, Owen thinks the 22-year-old may lose interest in the team if they don’t start winning titles soon.

“For me, it’s all about if there’s a massive discrepancy in terms of one of the clubs being bigger and if you’ve got more chance of winning the league or the Champions League at another club,” Owen told AceOdds.

“People tend to always want to better themselves in life. I mean, it’s not just footballers. Most people would try to better themselves.

“He went to Chelsea because he wasn’t getting a game at Man City. If he had the opportunity to go to a team that was going to give him more of a chance of winning the league or Champions League, then that’s when it becomes interesting.

“As things stand, are Liverpool more likely to win the Premier League than Chelsea? I would say so but it’s not like Liverpool players are guaranteed to win the title.

“But listen, if Man City came back in for him and wanted to spend £100m, then that’s a different question. But I think he’d probably stay put at the moment.”

Meanwhile, Cole Palmer is yet to start a game for England in Euro 2024.

Despite calls for Gareth Southgate to start the Chelsea star, the England boss has remained aloof.

Manchester United legend Roy Keane is one of those who has called for Palmer to start for England.

However, Roy Keane believes Gareth Southgate purposefully leaves Cole Palmer out of the starting lineup, so he can make an impact in the second-half.

“For the likes of Cole Palmer and Anthony Gordon, it’s clear that Gareth Southgate sees them as impact players off the pitch,” the ex-Man United captain said on The Overlap.

“I don’t know the stats for Euro 2024, but because it has been a long season for most of the players in the tournament, most players are having a big impact coming off the bench in the second half of matches, and that includes England with their late equaliser against Slovakia with Ivan Toney being involved.

“I don’t see Gordon or Palmer starting against Switzerland because I think Southgate will be wanting to bring them on late in the game, especially if it’s a tight match.”
