“I won’t stand in his way” – Club boss confirms ‘he won’t stand in way’ of £50M star joining Chelsea this summer

Pedro Neto, who is linked to Chelsea, will not be forced to stay at Wolves, according to manager Gary O’Neil, who has stated he is keen to keep him at Molineux this summer.

According to reports, Neto was eager to sign with a major league team this summer. Chelsea has been mentioned as a potential destination for the Portuguese player, although this rumor has waned recently.

Even so, O’Neill maintains that the club won’t obstruct the Portugal international if CHELSEA or another team makes a “massive bid” for Neto’s services, despite his claims that he wants to keep the player at the team.

He told the E&S podcast: “I know how good he is, and I know how well he would do at a big club.

Obviously I want our team here to be unbelievably successful. So I’m hoping that he stays.

“I think so (there’s a chance he stays). There’s nothing going on at this moment from anybody. He’s in a good spot, I’ve spoke to him about how we’re going to play and how it suits him and what a big part he’ll play in it.

“But of course, we’re all grown-ups while you’re having them conversations.

“If a massive bid comes from a top club then no one is going to stand in Pedro’s way.

“I’m confident that he will be here. Because we haven’t had anything really, that makes the club think that he won’t be. But of course, a lot of business can be done late.”

Speaking to OLBG, former Wolves man Don Goodman recently claimed that Neto is ready for that big move – he said:“I think Pedro Neto could go to any of the big clubs – he’s that good. Wolves fans are resigned to the fact they will lose him, with respect to them.

“Neto is a top-level player and Wolves can’t lay claim to being one of those clubs right now. You have to grab the football opportunities with both hands and embrace the chances to develop your career and play at the highest level – and that means the Champions League. He’s that good.

“It’s promising to hear him talk about how much he loves the club, fans, and the area. He’s very settled and he’ll have to revisit that in the summer.

“Arsenal are the ones who are linked with him, but I’d be very surprised if most of the big teams aren’t keeping an eye on him. He’s been sensational.

“I used to commentate on Wolves games when Neto was at his peak, before his injury, and the thing that struck me was his intentions on the ball. He always wanted to beat players, create chances, and put crosses in.

“Players make safer choices with the ball these days as there’s a big onus on keeping it, rather than trying to hurt opponents with your quality. The flipside of that is that you might give the ball away. Neto’s decision-making, choices, and will to hurt opponents really struck me.

“Neto lost that when was recovering from his injury, but Gary O’Neil has given him a bit of love, and we’ve got the old Neto back. He’s sensational, and he belongs at the very top.”
