Confirmed: Key Chelsea star suffers heavy injury a week before new season
This Chelsea star’s hamstring injury just a week before the new season is very unfortunate.
Just one week before the 2024–25 season officially began, Reece James reportedly sustained another hamstring injury, according to The Athletic.
This week, following his return to training at the Cobham training camp, the Chelsea captain experienced difficulty.
Although the injury is mild, according to club sources, he might still miss a month. The game against Bournemouth on September 14 is anticipated to be the player’s comeback.
This means that James will not play in Sunday’s last preseason game against Inter Milan, after starting all five of the team’s games during the US trip.
The right-back would miss the first three games of the Premier League campaign anyway due to suspension. However, he is now likely to miss the Conference League play-offs against Braga or Servette, with the games taking place on August 22 and 29.
Last season, James started just five league games due to several injuries. He even resorted to surgery to try to fix a problem in his left leg.
