BREAKING NEWS : Chelsea handed Victor Osimhen transfer green light after ‘SHOCK’ Napoli decision
Victor Osimhen was left off of Napoli’s roster for their Coppa Italia match against Moden on Saturday. Chelsea is still interested in signing the 25-year-old, thus it is anticipated that he will depart the team this summer.
The Serie A team, led by Antonio Conte, has decided not to use Osimhen even though he participated in preseason training. Everyone anticipates that the striker will go before the transfer window closes.
Chelsea is still considering selling Romelu Lukaku, and one possibility they have is Osimhen. He could go the other route and return to Italy to be with Conte again.
It has been proposed that Osimhen and Lukaku might be included in a partial swap between the two teams. Chelsea is looking for possibilities to bring in the Nigerian on loan for the 2024/25 season.
Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, has hit back at this though. He wrote on Twitter/X: “I read about imaginative exchanges with Victor sent here and there as if he were a package to be delivered quickly. This package, however, is the top scorer of the third scudetto in Napoli’s history. Respect and stop with fake news!!!!”
Not going as far as rubbishing the news, but more demanding that his client is not described as an object, Calenda’s comments have left the door open for a transfer still. Meanwhile, Chelsea are closing in on signing Atletico Madrid striker Samu Omorodion.
He will join Nicolas Jackson, Marc Guiu, and Christopher Nkunku as centre-forward options under Enzo Maresca. The 20-year-old was victorious for Spain at the Olympics on Friday night, winning the gold medal with his country.
Armando Broja is still in the Chelsea squad but is expected to be sold. Elsewhere, the Blues are finalising their preparations ahead of the new Premier League season.
They face Inter Milan on Sunday before kicking off the domestic campaign a week later against Manchester City. Napoli are in action against Verona on the same day after completing cup commitments without Osimhen.
