Why I snubbed Arsenal and Tottenham and signed for Chelsea – €63m star finally reveals
Pedro Neto has been signed by Chelsea in a quick transfer from Wolves.
The agreement, which values Wolves at €60 million up front with an extra €3 million in possible add-ons, places Chelsea among the biggest players signed during the summer transfer window.
Out of the blue, Chelsea made an unexpected and quick move for Neto, and they quickly closed the transaction.
In an effort to help the Blues compete on several fronts this season, the 24-year-old winger is anticipated to be formally introduced to Chelsea supporters at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Tottenham and Arsenal were linked with Neto all summer, only for Chelsea to make a swoop.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed what transpired.
“I have many questions on Pedro Neto this summer, but I can guarantee that Arsenal for example were never really in for Pedro Neto this summer. Arsenal had an interest in Pedro Neto, but they never made any concrete proposal this summer,” Romano said.
“Tottenham had a genuine interest in Pedro Neto, he was one of the players in the list of Tottenham, but they were not going to pay that money, Tottenham had a different kind of strategy for Pedro Neto.”
