Deal ON: Another 22-year-old star could join Chelsea on one condition before deadline day – Fabrizio Romano confirms
According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea has Benfica defender Tomas Araujo on its wishlist in case a center back departs before the transfer season closes.
Moving players on is Chelsea’s top priority in the last days of the transfer window. The team is still trying to find solutions for players like Ben Chilwell, Trevoh Chalobah, Raheem Sterling, and Armando Broja.
Regarding new players, the Blues are still looking to add a striker, and Victor Osimhen is their top target. However, they will have competition from Al-Ahli of Saudi Arabia and Ivan Toney.
Araujo on Chelsea’s shortlist
A striker is clearly the main priority, but it seems the club could look to bring a centre back in if either Chalobah or Axel Disasi leave before Friday’s deadline.
Romano has reported that Araujo is on Chelsea’s shortlist but they face competition from French giants Paris Saint Germain who also like the player.
He took to X.com and said:
“Chelsea have Tomás Araujo on their shortlist in case one defender leaves in the final days. No bid at this stage but Araujo’s really appreciated, as per CNN Portugal. Paris Saint-Germain want Araujo in case Milan Škriniar accepts Al Nassr proposal.”
The 22-year-old, who can also play at right back has come through the ranks at Benfica and has made 27 appearances for the club.
Araujo clearly fits Chelsea’s recruitment model given his age and potential and he appears to be top prospect, but a lot still has to happen before any potential move is made.
