Despite losing to Servette on their way back from Switzerland, Chelsea advanced to the ‘league phase’ of the UEFA Conference League this season by winning the competition overall.
In the first leg at Stamford Bridge a week ago, Enzo Maresca’s Blues exerted the most effort, building a 2-0 aggregate lead that was ultimately insurmountable for Servette.
For the second straight European match, Christopher Nkunku found the scoreboard. However, Jeremy Guillemenot and Enzo Crivelli completely turned the tables on the second leg, winning 2-1.
Chelsea endured late pressure, although Nicolas Jackson had the ball in the net to be flagged marginally offside and Cole Palmer struck the woodwork with a glorious chance.
But Badiashile and Disasi are the two worst players for Chelsea on the field, and Mikel Obi has already forewarned Enzo Maresca that if they don’t trade them, the pair would make the season unbearable for Chelsea.
Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile, in the view of former Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi, are not the kind of players who belong at Chelsea.
Despite facing challenges earlier in the season, Chelsea managed to finish 6th in the Premier League table.
During a podcast discussion, Mikel stated that both players lack the qualities required to play for Chelsea.
He further emphasised the need for the team management to seek out better center-back options ahead of the upcoming season.
“I don’t believe Benoit Badiashile is the right fit for Chelsea. Alex Disasi… no! We require two proven, top center-backs who can come in and provide stability to the back four. We need two world-class center-backs,” he remarked.
