Former Nigerian international Mikel Obi has backed Chelsea’s possible trade for Manchester United striker Jadon Sancho, according to Chelsea 247.
Despite having his differences with manager Erik Ten Hag resolved, Sancho has been linked to a departure from Old Trafford. The former star of Borussia Dortmund is reportedly considering Chelsea and Juventus as prospective destinations.
The former captain of Chelsea and the Super Eagles thinks that bringing Sancho to Stamford Bridge will greatly improve the team’s offensive options and general strength of the squad.
According to reports, Juventus is putting up a loan agreement as their finest offer to Manchester United, while Chelsea is proposing to trade Sancho for former Liverpool striker Raheem Sterling.
Speaking on the Obionepodcast, Mikel Obi shared his enthusiasm for the potential transfer, stating, “If we can get him through the door at Chelsea, I’d be very, very happy. He’s a fantastic player. I think on that side of the pitch, we’re very strong. But listen, if we can get a player like Jadon, of course, you’d be happy to have him. If that happens, I’d be very happy.”
