“He can’t fit Enzo Maresca style of play” “We don’t need him” – Didier Drogba on 24-years-old Chelsea star

Didier Drogba, a Chelsea icon, has expressed concerns about several players this season. However, he has now identified one player who has yet to make an impression in the Premier League.

Didier Drogba questioned Chelsea’s decision to sign João Felix despite having adequate players in the position.

In August, the Blues sealed the permanent signing of Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid for £45 million.

Didier Drogba expressed reservations about the deal just days before its official signing. The London club has an overloaded squad, thus João Felix is not needed.

Meanwhile, Chelsea has made a promising start to the 2024/25 season, allaying any concerns that they would struggle under an untested manager at the top level.

Instead, Enzo Maresca has seven wins, two draws, and two losses in his first 11 competitive games as Chelsea manager.

“He can’t fit Chelsea style of play, He’s a great guy and a good player to build a club around, so why did he come to Chelsea?… Didier Drogba was questioned during an interview with Chelsea247.

“Now, a player of his quality is in the second Eleven, It’s obvious the coach doesn’t know where to Play him” according to Drogba.

It’s reasonable to say that the Portuguese winger has failed to start a single Premier League game since joining Chelsea in the summer.

Felix has already appeared as a substitute five times in the league, with his only starts coming against Barrow in the Carabao Cup and Gent in the Conference League.

The 24-year-old star can play almost anywhere in the attacking lineup. So far this season, he has started games in the No. 10 position. As a result, it’s clear that the Portugal international is mostly serving as Cole Palmer’s backup playmaker.

Felix can play off the wing or as a second striker to add firepower to Chelsea’s attack, but breaking into the Premier League starting lineup appears to be a long shot.
