Petr Čech, a Chelsea icon, was unimpressed with the Chelsea goalkeeper’s performance during Sunday’s loss to Liverpool.
This weekend, in the first Premier League games following the international break, the blues lost 2-1 on the road against Liverpool.
Petr Čech blasted Chelsea’s defense for allowing Jones to score the game-winning goal. He was especially dissatisfied with Spanish goalkeeper Robert Sanchez’s sluggish play off his line.
In fact, Petr Čech, the former goalie for Chelsea, has hinted that the £25 million goalkeeper at Stamford Bridge may eventually need to be changed.
Speaking with Chelsea247 reporters about Liverpool’s game-winning goal against Chelsea, Petr Čech remarked…
“Reece James has his hand up at the back post and is two yards onside. It’s a slack defense. Alright, that makes sense. He is a little bit worn out, and I also believe the goalie is rather bad. to believe that the goalie is attempting to challenge someone two yards out from goal.
“Curtis Jones truly is at full stretch here, which is a horrible touch. Reece James hasn’t performed well, and the goalie’s performance is truly horrible. If Chelsea wants to contend the next season, they need a goalie.
throughout the meantime, Robert Sanchez surely put on a mix of outstanding and subpar performances throughout the first few months of this campaign. If this keeps up, it’s difficult to defend his maintaining the top rank over the long run.
