“He’s starting tonight” – Enzo Maresca confirms Chelsea star will start against Panathinaikos tonight
Goalie Filip Jorgensen will play against Panathinaikos in the Conference League tomorrow, according to Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca.
Due to concussion protocols, the Dane was not included in the matchday squad versus Liverpool last weekend; however, he is now considered healthy.
During today’s news conference, Maresca stated that Jorgensen will play on Thursday night and is once again available for selection.
Maresca said: “He’s available and is going to play.”
Robert Sanchez has been the regular goalkeeper in the Premier League, but his position is not entirely certain at the current point of time.
He has been prone to making individual errors and his poor decision-making contributed to Liverpool’s winning goal at the weekend.
If Jorgensen continues to impress, he could break into the manager’s plans in the league too, suppose Sanchez makes more high-profile errors.
Chelsea face Panathinaikos in Athens tomorrow before hosting Newcastle United in Sunday’s Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge.
