‘The reason why I love Chelsea’ – Enzo Maresca reveals why he loved Chelsea as Blues beats Panathinaikos 4-1
Renato Veiga made his Chelsea debut as a center-back against Panathinaikos. Enzo Maresca seemed pleased with the experiment’s outcome.
“Renato, I just said to him inside the changing room, he has played as a centre-back, full-back, holding midfielder, attacking midfielder,” Maresca told a press conference.
“I said the reason why I love Chelsea is because many players can be versatile. It is better for the team and for the players.
“Today, if you just play one position; I don’t think it’s enough. You need to learn to play more positions.”
Veiga also made his senior Portugal debut as a centre-back earlier this month, suggesting that he could be an option in this position for the Blues, too.
