“Fight for your place & Stop ranting” – Enzo Maresca warns Chelsea man to step-up his game or leave Chelsea

Although we Chelsea supporters are aware of Christopher Nkunku’s talent, head coach Enzo Maresca has stated that the French forward will have to fight for a starting position in the Premier League.

Since joining Chelsea in 2023, Nkunku has made 17 appearances in all competitions and scored 10 goals. Though Manchester United is apparently interested, he has only started one league game this season, which has led to speculation about his future and even a move elsewhere.

Maresca has frequently switched between league and cup lineups, favoring Nicolas Jackson as his primary attacking option in the league despite Nkunku’s performance.

However, after Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal on Sunday, Maresca stressed that his rotation approach doesn’t mean players like Nkunku and Joao Felix are limited to cup appearances.

“Even if from outside you struggle to believe me, there is not two teams,” Maresca told Stadium Astro.

“The ones that played tonight [Sunday], probably in three weeks, they are playing Conference [League] and the ones that are playing Conference, they can play in the Premier League.”

He emphasized that every player in the squad has the opportunity to break into the Premier League side. “Joao Felix can play in the Premier League. Nkunku can play Premier League. All of them can play Premier League,” Maresca said.

“I always repeat the same thing. Just because they played today doesn’t mean they’re going to play the next one. You have to compete, you have to perform in the right way.”

As fans, it’s reassuring to see Maresca encouraging healthy competition among players, pushing them to give their best every time they step onto the pitch. Nkunku’s talent is undeniable, and while he faces competition, his determination could soon see him secure a regular spot in the Premier League lineup. We’re excited to see him rise to the challenge and prove his place at Stamford Bridge.
