“He’s better than him at the moment” “Drop him for next 5games” – Peter Crouch tells Enzo Maresca to drop ‘LAZY’ Chelsea star after 2-0 win over Heidenheim
Peter Crouch, a former Premier League striker, has urged Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca to start Filip Jorgensen in goal rather than Robert Sanchez in Sunday’s Premier League matchup against Aston Villa.
Chelsea defeated Bundesliga team Heidenheim 2-0 on Thursday night, extending their winning streak in the UEFA Conference League.
Although Mykhailo Mudryk and Christopher Nkunku scored the game-winning goals, Crouch was more impressed by Jorgensen’s goalkeeping effort.
Speaking to TNT Sports, Crouch praised Jorgensen for his assured display and suggested it’s time for the Danish goalkeeper to be given the opportunity to impress in the Premier League.
“Chelsea didn’t have their own way tonight; they had to rely on Jorgensen quite a few times,” Crouch said. “I think he deserves a shot, I have to say.”
Jorgensen, who arrived from Villarreal for £20.7 million in the summer, has so far made four appearances this season, all in the UEFA Conference League.
Meanwhile, Robert Sanchez remains the club’s first-choice goalkeeper in the Premier League, but his performances have not been without criticism.
“There’s been a lot of talk around Sanchez, a few mistakes; he looks nervy at times,” Crouch continued. “Every time I’ve seen him [Jorgensen] play, he’s not put a foot wrong.”
With Aston Villa set to visit Stamford Bridge this weekend, the debate over who should start in goal is likely to intensify.
Sanchez, while solid at times, has had moments of uncertainty that have left fans questioning his reliability.
On the other hand, Jorgensen has quietly gone about his business, impressing in European competition.
Will Maresca stick with his current No. 1, or will he heed Crouch’s advice and give Jorgensen the Premier League stage he seemingly deserves? Stamford Bridge waits in anticipation.
