“Once you hear that ‘NAME’ it’s difficult to win” – Unai Emery finally reveals ‘ONE THING’ that went wrong for Aston Villa against Chelsea
When asked what went wrong during his team’s 3-0 loss to Chelsea, Aston Villa manager Unai Emery responded with a single word.
Villa’s winless streak now stands at eight games in all competitions thanks to goals from Nicolas Jackson, Enzo Fernandez, and Cole Palmer.
Villa’s performance was uncharacteristically lackluster as they had trouble getting past Chelsea’s media.
When asked why his side weren’t at the races, Emery was blunt: “Chelsea.”
When asked to elaborate, Emery repeated himself.
However, the Spaniard was more willing to elaborate when quizzed on his team’s attacking frailties of late.
The blank against Chelsea marked the fourth time in Villa’s last five games they had failed to score.
“They were more or less in the high press, going man-to-man,” Emery said.
“We knew before, one option was like that and we had our chances. We didn’t score, but I’m worried if we are not creating chances. Today we created.
“Of course, in 90 minutes here, if you are not scoring, they are controlling more-or-less the match. They had a whole feeling, strong and comfortable, they could score like they did.
“We had to accept it because it’s Chelsea and we have to keep going, trying to keep balance.”
