“I can’t sleep” “In the second half he really makes us suffer” – Ange Postecoglou blames Chelsea man for Spurs defeat

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou bemoaned his team’s wasted chances and costly errors after Chelsea’s thrilling 4-3 victory over Tottenham. In an interview with BBC Match of the Day, Postecoglou said the defeat was difficult to accept.

“It is a sore one, a painful one,” Postecoglou admitted.

Tottenham made a strong start to the game, racing into a 2-0 lead within the first 11 minutes. However, the turning point came with the early injury to Cristian Romero, which disrupted Spurs’ rhythm.

“We started the game really well but as our season has been going, we lose [Cristian] Romero after 20 minutes and that disrupts us a bit and they score straight after.”

Despite being 2-1 up at halftime, Postecoglou reflected on missed chances that could have put the game beyond Chelsea’s reach. Says Cole Palmer and Chelsea make use of their chances as the bottle their 2-0 lead.

“We had moments to get our third and at half-time we were in a decent position. The second half is a ding dong, especially at the start, they scored but we had a big chance with Son, we didn’t take it and then they go 3-2 up because of Cole Palmer threats.”

“They makes us suffer after we don’t take our chances, it’s really frustrating”. He said

Discipline proved to be a decisive factor, as Postecoglou criticized his players for conceding two penalties.

“I thought both penalties were poor decisions by us, we have to show more discipline. In the end the critical moments got us.”

While Postecoglou acknowledged the quality of the game, he felt neither team created an overwhelming number of chances.

“I think there were quality opportunities but I don’t think there was an abundance of them. I can’t remember the keepers making a load of top quality saves.”

He added: “We more than matched a good side in that department and when there is quality out there you are going to have moments. There were things we could have done better for sure.”

From a Chelsea fan’s perspective, this match was another example of the resilience and clinical edge that makes the Blues a formidable side. Tottenham may rue their missed chances and lapses in discipline, but Chelsea capitalized on every opportunity to claim an unforgettable victory.

The bragging rights stay with Chelsea, and the passion and determination on display are sure to fuel the team’s momentum moving forward. Spurs may feel the pain, but for Chelsea fans, it’s all joy and celebration. Keep the blue flag flying high!
