“I want to fight for my place” “Not leaving in January” – Chelsea star shuts down January exit
According to a BBC story, Chelsea defender Axel Disasi has no intention of leaving Stamford Bridge during the January transfer window, even if clubs from all around Europe are showing interest in him.
Despite being linked to transfers to Juventus and an unidentified German team, the 26-year-old French international is still dedicated to Chelsea and has no plans to pursue an exit. Head coach Enzo Maresca, who is said to have no plans to approve a departure, shares his satisfaction with life at the club.
Maresca’s reluctance to let Disasi leave is understandable given Chelsea’s current defensive injury concerns. Benoit Badiashile is sidelined “for a long time,” while Wesley Fofana is not expected to return until early 2025. This makes Disasi a crucial part of the team’s backline, providing stability during a challenging period.
Since joining Chelsea in a £38.5 million deal from Monaco in the summer of 2023, Disasi has made a strong impression. He has appeared 13 times across all competitions this season, wearing the captain’s armband on five occasions. His leadership qualities and performances have made him an integral part of Chelsea’s defensive setup.
Disasi, who has earned five caps for the French national team, remains focused on helping Chelsea achieve their goals this season, further cementing his importance to the squad. Despite interest from elsewhere, Chelsea fans can rest assured that their star defender is staying put, at least for now.
