‘He will be a statement signing’ for Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca this January – Maresca told to sign 27-year old star who will saved him
If CHELSEA made the decision to bring Fikayp Tomori back to the club during the January transfer window, reporter Iomie Stanley says that he would be a statement of intent signing for Enzo Maresca.
Tomori enjoyed a very good start to life at the Italian side and quickly become a player that they could really rely on, and developed into a top defender over the past few seasons.
However, recent developments at AC Milan suggest a potential return to Stamford Bridge might be on the cards, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri in his column for Sky Sport CH.
Stanley said: ‘At 27, Tomori is entering his prime years as a defender and brings with him a wealth of experience at the highest level. With AC Milan, he has participated in Serie A title races, Champions League campaigns, and intense European fixtures. This pedigree could prove invaluable for a Chelsea squad looking to regain its footing among England’s elite.
His experience in high-pressure situations could also aid in mentoring younger defenders and raising the standards in Leicester’s defensive line.
‘Chelsea’s defensive record has often been their Achilles’ heel, and while their attacking output has been impressive, inconsistencies at the back have left room for concern. Tomori’s arrival could address these vulnerabilities.
‘His pace allows him to recover against fast attackers, while his aerial ability and reading of the game make him a formidable presence in central defense. Partnering him with an established Chelsea defender could create a balance of youth, energy, and reliability.
‘Tomori may also have personal motivations that align with Chelsea’s ambitions. After falling out of favor at CHELSEA earlier in his career, he moved to Italy and proved his quality, earning plaudits for his performances. A return to England could offer him the chance to showcase his growth and consistency.
‘For Enzo Maresca, signing Tomori in January would represent a statement of intent and a step towards creating a cohesive, competitive defensive unit.’
