“He has everything” – Chelsea submit shocking bid to sign player who has everything under Pochettino
A number of attackers are now being connected to Chelsea, including one who was allegedly on the verge of joining the team under manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Chelsea’s first-choice striker right now is Nicolas Jackson, who has played well this year. In 19 Premier League games, the 23-year-old has scored nine goals. He has only scored one goal in his last six games, though, as his form has declined recently.
Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel recently commented on Jackson, suggesting that the Blues could have been in contention for the title if they had a more prolific No. 9 than the Senegalese striker.
Dusan Vlahovic: A Potential Target
If Chelsea decides to bolster their attack this month, Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic could be a viable option. Reports indicate that the Serbian striker has already been offered to Chelsea, making him an attainable target.
This is not the first time Vlahovic has been linked with the Blues. According to journalist Simon Phillips, Chelsea came close to signing him during Mauricio Pochettino’s time at Stamford Bridge. On his Substack, Si Phillips Talks Chelsea, he wrote:
“Sources have not yet heard anything fresh on Vlahovic, but sources have said that we were ‘quite close’ to signing him under Mauricio Pochettino.”
A Manager’s Praise for Vlahovic
Former Lazio and Hellas Verona boss Igor Tudor has lauded Vlahovic’s abilities. During the 2021/22 season, Tudor described the striker as “one of the best in the world” in a press conference, emphasizing his hunger and mental strength as key attributes.
That season, Vlahovic scored an impressive 24 goals in 36 Serie A games, prompting his mid-season transfer from Fiorentina to Juventus. While his scoring rate has since declined—managing just 10 goals the following season—Vlahovic remains young for a striker and possesses the potential to challenge even the best defenses when in form.
Chelsea’s Striking Dilemma
Adding Vlahovic could address Chelsea’s need for a reliable goal scorer. While Jackson has shown promise, a more seasoned and proven forward like Vlahovic might offer the consistency needed to push the team to greater heights this season.
