“Here we go” – Fabrizio Romano confirms first January transfer window
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has issued a late-night ‘here we go,’ and astonishingly, it marks Chelsea’s first significant move in this January transfer window.
Aside from countless transfer rumors about Chelsea mulling over various options, the first 23 days of the window have been quite uneventful regarding actual deal completions. If Chelsea genuinely intends to offload several players they are said to want out, such as Ben Chilwell and midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka, then they must take swift action in the remaining 8 days of the transfer window.
However, with all of that said, they have now finally got the ball rolling with Romano calling the first done deal of January for Chelsea late on Wednesday evening.
And that is Renato Veiga, who only joined the club six months ago, already departing to Juventus on loan for the rest of the season.
Veiga departs
The versatile defender/midfielder will now spend the rest of the season in Serie A.
Romano says:
‘Juventus agree deal with Chelsea to sign Renato Veiga, here we go!
‘Loan deal for €5m loan fee until June, no buy option clause — and then player back to Chelsea at the end of June for Clubs’ World Cup.
‘Veiga, expected to play as CB at Juventus.’
Concerning that a player who was only signed in the summer already wants to give up in search of more regular football. I mean, what was said to him when he signed? Was he under the impression that he would be playing more? Where is his patience? Where is Chelsea’s long-term squad building? None of this sits too well with me I am afriad.
