“Finally Medical completed” – Fabrizio Romano confirms Chelsea transfer saga is finally over
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Chelsea and Torino have come to an agreement for Cesare Casadei to join the Serie A team.
As the January transfer window enters its final few days, activity regarding transfers typically begins to increase.
So far, the Blues have not been as busy as anticipated and have not made any signings apart from recalling Trevoh Chalobah from loan. However, they have agreed to a €15m deal with Strasbourg for Mamadou Sarr, who will join in the summer.
Casadei to join Torino
Whilst the Blues are looking to bring one or two new faces in before Monday’s deadline day, the club are also desperately trying to move a number of players on.
The only outgoing of note had been Renato Veiga’s loan move to Juventus, however Chelsea have now completed their first sale of the window.
After weeks of negotiations and back and forth with both Lazio and Torino, Casadei is finally set to join Torino after the Blues reached an agreement with their Italian counterparts.
Romano confirmed the news and said on X.com:
“Cesare Casadei to Torino from Chelsea, here we go! Agreement done between all parties, medical completed. €15m package for Chelsea plus 25% sell-on clause. Casadei signed his Torino contract few minutes ago.”
This will be a relief for all parties as it felt like there was a chance this deal might not happen, which wouldn’t have been good for Chelsea or Casadei.
There was believed to be late interest from Porto, but Casadei will now return to his homeland, with the Blues pretty much getting back the initial £12.6m they paid Inter Milan for the midfielder in 2022.
In total the 21-year-old made 17 appearances for the Blues and had loan spells at both Reading and Leicester during his time at Stamford Bridge.
