CONFIRMED: Chelsea player to miss FA Cup clash against Brighton after leg injury
Chelsea striker Marc Guiu is set to miss the FA Cup fourth-round tie against Brighton & Hove Albion after sustaining a leg abductor injury, according to The Athletic.
The 19-year-old picked up the injury during added time in Chelsea’s 2-1 win over West Ham, where he featured as a substitute.
Despite initial reassurances from manager Enzo Maresca, the club has decided to take a precautionary approach, ruling Guiu out of the weekend’s FA Cup fixture.
Guiu has been a standout performer since his €6 million summer move, netting eight goals in 13 appearances, all in the UEFA Conference League. His absence will be a blow to Chelsea’s attacking options as they look to progress in the competition.
