“We’re scared of him” “Especially in dressing room” – Chelsea players reveals why they’re scared of Robert Sanchez
Arsenal legend Ian Wright has launched a scathing attack on Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, questioning his reliability and the impact he has on the team’s overall confidence.
Speaking on the state of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad, Wright suggested that Sanchez’s performances between the posts are a major concern for Chelsea’s defensive stability.
“There’s no way you can be confident playing in front of that goalkeeper, there’s no way I can see any scenario where Chelsea will do it because of this.”
The former Arsenal striker didn’t hold back in his criticism, claiming that Sanchez’s inconsistency spreads uncertainty throughout the team.
He went on: “You have a goalkeeper you’re scared of, you don’t know if he’ll let one in or make a mistake. Then you have strikers who aren’t scoring. If you let in a goal, you instantly think you’re not winning because he could make another mistake and he might miss another chance—it just demoralises everybody with the goalkeeper.”
Sanchez, who joined Chelsea from Brighton last summer, has had a mixed spell at Stamford Bridge, with fans and pundits alike questioning whether he is the right man to be the club’s long-term No.1. Wright’s comments only add to the growing scrutiny on the Spaniard as Chelsea continue to struggle for consistency this season.
