‘We are rivals now’ – Cole Palmer sends clear message to Thiago Silva ahead of Fluminense clash
Chelsea’s Club World Cup journey is heating up — and Cole Palmer believes the Blues are peaking at just the right time.
With a semi-final showdown against Brazilian giants Fluminense on the horizon, Palmer has given Chelsea fans a reason to believe this tournament could end in glory.
The young midfielder, who has been one of Chelsea’s standout performers in recent weeks, sounded a confident note after the Blues’ latest victory.
“We are getting used to being here, the climate is a big thing, and the pitches,” Palmer said.
“The more the tournament has gone on, the better we have got.”
It’s been a tournament of growth for Enzo Maresca’s side. Coming into the competition with a relatively young squad, Chelsea have had to adapt quickly — and Palmer believes they are doing just that. From adjusting to the weather to getting used to the unique rhythm of the games, the team is slowly building momentum.
“We’re getting better and better,” Palmer continued, “and hopefully, we can play even better than we did tonight in the semi.”
That semi-final, of course, is against a familiar name — Thiago Silva’s Fluminense. The Brazilian club, led by the former Chelsea defender, will provide a stern test. But if Palmer’s words are anything to go by, Chelsea are ready to rise to the occasion.
