“Palmer adores him” – Chelsea now looking to sign £100m PL star who Cole Palmer will adores

Enzo Maresca led them to fourth in the Premier League and Conference League glory last summer, and then to world domination in the Club World Cup at the weekend.

Instead of wilting under the pressure of playing Paris Saint-Germain, who just embarrassed Real Madrid, the West Londoners ended up embarrassing them.

While the entire team outdid themselves, Cole Palmer was undoubtedly the best player on the pitch, and in good news, it looks like the board are eyeing up a Premier League player who’d be a perfect teammate for him.

Chelsea target perfect teammate for Palmer

Off the pitch, this summer has been just as exciting for Chelsea, as on top of making a tidy profit on Noni Madueke, they’ve made some seriously impressive signings.

For example, Joao Pedro and Liam Delap have arrived to significantly improve the striker options, while Jamie Gittens will add more depth on the left wing, and the likes of Mamadou Sarr and Dario Essugo are talents for the future.

However, the Pensioners are not done there, as they have now been linked with another Premier League star who could be perfect alongside Palmer next season.

At least that’s according to The Athletic, which has reported that Morgan Rogers is a player Chelsea seriously admire.

There is no mention of how much the Aston Villa star could cost the Blues this summer, but stories from earlier in the window claimed that it would take an offer of around £100m to tempt the Claret and Blue into selling.

It would therefore be an incredibly costly and complicated transfer to get over the line, but given Rogers’ immense ability and potential, one well worth fighting for, especially as he could be the dream teammate for Palmer.

Why Rogers would be a dream for Palmer

The first reason why Rogers would be a brilliant signing and teammate for Palmer is his positional versatility.

Like the Blues star, the Villa ace is more than able to play as his team’s recognised ten, in wide midfield or even on the wing, on the left in his case, and this is good news for two reasons.

Firstly, it means that he could easily cover for the 23-year-old when needed, and given the number of games the Blues will have to play next season, plus the importance of the former Manchester City gem to them, this is a massive positive.

Second, it would also allow the two players more time to form a partnership on the pitch as there would be more opportunities for the Claret and Blue ace to start in the first team.

Another reason why the former Middlesbrough star would be such an incredible teammate is down to his brilliant output, as a player of Palmer’s quality needs to be playing alongside effective attackers.

Fortunately, the often-unstoppable “machine,” as dubbed by The Athletic’s Jacob Tanswell, is indeed that, as in 54 appearances, totalling 4,496 minutes, he scored 14 goals and provided 15 assists.

In other words, he averaged a goal involvement every 1.86 games, or every 155.03 minutes, which is the sort of service that could see the West Londoners’ talisman’s own output soar.

Finally, and this might sound somewhat surface-level, but at 22 years old, the Halesowen-born game-changer will be able to progress and develop alongside the Blues’ game-changer, which is important for squad-building and future-proofing the side.

Ultimately, it would cost an arm and a leg, but Chelsea should do what they can to sign Rogers this summer, as he’d be an incredible talent in his own right and someone who could help Palmer get even better as well.
