Reece James is set to return to action after an ankle ligament injury already next month.

Lampard even wants to use the international break (September 2-13) to ‘fast-track’ the 19-year-old to the first-team (The Sun).

And while the youngster is in the final stages of his recovery process, Cesar Azpilicueta has backed him to reach great heights with the Blues in the future.

“I am here to help everybody and he is an amazing kid. He has a very good mentality,” Azpi said as quoted by the Evening Standard. “No one has any doubts about his talent on the pitch and hopefully he can be a very important player.”

Some may question why would the Spaniard praise his direct opponent for the starting XI place, the 29-year-old has revealed they can actually play in the same team.

“When he (first) came (to train with the senior side) he was already used to the way we play,” Cesar added. “After he arrived, I was playing as a centre-back so he was training on the right next to me.

It was easy for me to get close to him and help him with the movements and to get used to the way we play. The movements that the manager asks us to play.”
