Bordeaux have joined Inter Milan in the race to sign Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud. This is according to Goal.

The Ligue 1 side are interested in a loan deal for the 33-year-old striker who has been reportedly given the go-ahead to leave Chelsea in January.

Bordeaux will be unable to pay Giroud his current wages and they would hope to see the Blues pay some of them or see him lower his demands.

However, Inter Milan lead the race to sign Giroud but the Frenchman is concerned whether he will get game time at Inter Milan with Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez already top performers at the club.

The 33-year-old is cautiously deciding his next step as he wants to join a club that will offer him game time ahead of Euro 2020. France boss Didier Deschamps recently urged Giroud to leave Chelsea to secure a spot in France’s Euro 2020 squad.

“Giroud, like others, may have to move,” Deschamps said. “His situation at Chelsea hasn’t changed in two months.

“It would be better for him, of course, to go to a club where he would get more playing time. If he can’t get it at Chelsea, the idea is to get it elsewhere.”
