Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has promised Frank Lampard that he will be kept on at Stamford Bridge for at least two seasons to prove his worth. This is according to the reputable British journalist Duncan Castles.
According to the source, Abramovich has personally phoned Lampard and gave him assurances about the job.
Chelsea legend was allegedly swayed by the guarantees and is ready to take over at the Bridge.
Chelsea are set to open talks with Derby County over making Frank Lampard new Blues manager following Maurizio Sarri’s departure to Juventus. It will reportedly cost £4m to prise Lampard away from The Rams.
It is claimed that the Blues hierarchy is looking forward to appointing the club legend in the managerial role.
They believe this move will ‘galvanise’ a fanbase that has grown dissipated during Sarri’s controversial spell.
Lampard himself will likely accept the offer, as his ties to Chelsea would make it ‘virtually impossible’ for him to decline the invitation.
