After Higuain, £140k-a-week player jets in to finalise Chelsea move

Underperforming Spain International Chelsea star has reportedly jetted off to Atletico Madrid to undergo a medical following the arrival of Gonzalo Higuain.

The Blues boss can heave a sigh of relief after his wish was granted with the capture of Higuain, with a medical scheduled for the Argentine later in the day, the Blues are buzzing.

According to Goal.com, the Spaniard will join Atletico for an initial six months loan deal with an option to make the deal permanent if all the conditions are met.

To make the deal permanent, Atletico will have to fork out £43.7 million and a further £4.4 million on loan fees.

Maurizio Sarri was obviously in a good mode as he faced the press following their today Carabao cup match against Tottenham Hotspur were he revealed that Morata was very open to trying another club.

“Morata told me 10 days ago that there was an opportunity in Spain, but I don’t know where.

“We have some problems in scoring. Higuain usually is able to score 25 or 30 goals every season. But, as I told you before, in the market in January it’s very difficult to secure a very important striker.

“Gonzalo was in a situation that we could try to buy him, and so we decided to try for Higuain.”

Chelsea have the option to make the deal for Higuain permanent but it will be contingent on appearances, injuries and performances.

With the capture of Argentine, the club have flout there rule of not buying or extending the contract of players older than 30.
