Aguero backed 25-goal star to thrive in Premier League ahead of possible £125M Chelsea move

Sergio Aguero has backed CHELSEA target and Inter Milan star Lautaro Martinez to thrive in the Premier League.

It is believed that incoming boss Mauricio Pochettino will look to add another striker to the attack at the end of the season – as he has been promised by Ted Boehly that there will be funds available to sign the players he wants

And that has led to suggestions that Lautaro Martinez is a man that the club are very interested in signing at the end of the season.

The Argentine is now in the Champions League final after a stunning season for the Italians has seen him net an impressive 25 goals in 52 games for the Seria A giants.

And Aguero is a massive fan of the striker – claiming that he has the ability to thrive in the Premier League, he was quoted on the Metro: ‘A forward of the stature of Lautaro can play in the best leagues in the world,’ said the former Manchester City forward.

‘And of course he would do very well in the Premier League. He has talent and goalscoring ability and I think he would adapt very well to the English league.’

Owen Hargreaves has recently told the likes of CHELSEA that Martinez is a fabulous player.

Hargreaves recently said: “He’s (Martinez) a fabulous player. The way he leads the line reminds me a bit of Carlos Tevez. How aggressive he is, but he’s got a great touch, always running forward.

“Martinez has been fantastic. What a fabulous player! He can press, is a good finisher, and has good link-up play.

‘He literally gives you everything you need from a centre-forward.”

However – Inter vice-president Javier Zanetti insists the club has no plans to sell the striker in the coming windows,

Speaking after Inter’s 1-0 win over AC Milan on Tuesday night, Zanetti said of Martinez: ‘Delighted for him, he’s making an extraordinary journey.

‘He grows every year, he’s fundamental and an important reference in the team.’
